Manicurist Honey received her first set of nails as a gift when she was just thirteen years-old living in Brooklyn, NY. Her sights were set on being an artist, so she started creating designs and images on them and it started from there…
Since then, she has imagined some of the most innovative nail designs the fashion world has ever seen. From nails painted to resemble Band-Aids to beetle wings, Honey is anything but ordinary. And that is obvious from her name alone. While Honey wasn’t her given name, it’s certainly her name now. She was notorious for calling her countless clients (including Courtney Love, Dita Von-Teese, Kate Hudson, Ciara, and Britney Spears just to name a few), “Honey”, in turn, the affectionate nickname stuck onto her.
Honey’s work can be seen in print advertising, editorials, TV commercials and on the runway. She has worked on advertisement campaigns for BCBG Max Azria, Dolce & Gabbana, D&G, H&M, Pennyblack, Pinko, Coach, Hermes, Bloomingdales, Redken, L’Oreal, Maybelline, and with magazines such as Vogue, Interview, Italian Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Allure, GQ, W and V.
Honey has collaborated with the likes of Richard Burbridge, Steven Klein, Mikael Jansson, Craig McDean, Mario Sorrenti, Tim Walker and many others. Honey has partnered with many leading beauty brands to lead the nail looks for countless New York Ready-to-Wear fashion shows. Most recently, she has worked with Maybelline New York on runway shows such as Rachel Zoe, Lacoste and Carlos Miele and with MAC Cosmetics for Proenza Schouler. Honey also continues to collaborate with Reed Krakoff and Y3 on their RTW presentations.
If she could create her own nail color, it would be a blackish-purple color called “Hella Bad”. Her best nail-care tip: “Wash and moisturize a lot because there are a lot of cooties out there!” Her most recent trip was to Mexico… Tijuana to be exact and she definitely plans to go back soon!
